Tavern Law is a Seattle cocktail bar on Capitol Hill, where crafted cocktails, seasonal menus, and elevated gastropub food meet candlelight and conversation. Downstairs, Tavern Law is the main bar for cocktails and dinner. Upstairs, Needle & Thread is our intimate speakeasy, serving bespoke drinks built around your tastes, one round at a time.

Dinner Menu
A modern salute to the Golden Age: seasonal ingredients, classic technique, and plates designed for lingering. Start light with Burrata & Focaccia roasted tomato and Foie Gras warming the edges or Baby Lettuces with candied walnut, blue cheese, and pear vinaigrette.
Cocktails
Explore our seasonal, rotating menus of carefully crafted cocktails. Our newest menu “Forest” lets you explore the scents and flavors of the forests around us. Join us on this journey.
Happy Hour
Golden hour, perfected Sun–Thu, 5–6 PM. Explore classics like the Old Fashioned, Daiquiri, or keep it simple with a Ranch Water. Enjoy our select cocktails, mains and shareables at discounted prices.

At Tavern Law, a Seattle cocktail bar on Capitol Hill with an upstairs speakeasy, Needle & Thread, we try to keep that spirit alive every night. Classics are measured and precise, seasonal cocktails lean into the flavors around us, and the room is lit for conversation, date nights, and celebrations that linger.

Tavern Law is open daily from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Needle & Thread is open Tuesday to Sunday, 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM. On Mondays, Tavern Law is open, and Needle & Thread is not yet available.

Yes. We accept reservations for parties up to six, up to six days in advance. For groups of seven or more, we offer a table for up to 8 in Tavern Law or private event packages. Reach out and we’ll tailor the evening.

Sunday-Thursday, 5–6 PM (not available Fri/Sat). Expect $14 classics (Old Fashioned, Negroni, Daiquiri, Blood & Sand), $8 house wines, and shareables like roasted almonds, marinated olives, cheddar & corn cracklins, and more.

Absolutely! Tavern Law is currently completely walk-in. You can call in to reserve our larger table for up to 8 guests. Needle & Thread is reservation only that can take walk-ins if space is available.

Many items are marked GF/V/DF, and our kitchen is happy to adjust when possible. That said, we operate a shared kitchen. Please speak with us about severe allergies so we can guide you safely.

No formal dress code, neat-casual is perfect. This is a 21+ establishment. US/Canada Government issued ID is required for entry and valid passport for international guests.
