Needle & Thread Private Events

For groups of 36 or fewer, the whole speakeasy upstairs is yours. Guests reach it the way everyone does: by picking up the vintage telephone beside the vault door in the back of the bar. It's an intimate room for conversation, with cocktails made to each guest's taste.

Needle & Thread events run three or five hours, on weekdays or weekends, with dedicated staff and coordinated catering throughout. Named Seattle's best speakeasy by The Infatuation.

Full Venue Buyouts

For larger groups, buy out both floors. Guests move between Tavern Law and Needle & Thread through the night instead of being parked in one room: welcome drinks at the long bar downstairs, then up through the vault door.

Before the event you choose three curated cocktails, served in both spaces all evening. Later on, guests can order bespoke drinks made to their own taste upstairs. It's a full-venue buyout for large group dining, holiday parties, and company nights that feels planned rather than rented.

How many guests can you host?
Needle & Thread, the speakeasy upstairs, hosts private events for up to 36 guests. For 37 to 100 guests, a full buyout gives your group both floors of Tavern Law and Needle & Thread.
What's included in a private event package?
Every package includes drinks, catering, tax, and gratuity in one all-inclusive number, plus dedicated event staff. Tell us your date and headcount and we'll send a quote.
Can we book just the downstairs bar?
No. Tavern Law downstairs isn't booked on its own. Groups of up to 36 use Needle & Thread, and larger groups book a full buyout of both floors.
How long do private events last?
Needle & Thread events run three or five hours. Full buyouts run all night.
Are weekday and weekend dates available?
Yes, both. Availability and packages differ between weekdays and weekends, so include a few preferred dates in your inquiry.
Can we choose the cocktails?
Yes. For a buyout you choose three curated cocktails in advance, served in both spaces, and guests can order bespoke drinks upstairs later in the night. In Needle & Thread, cocktails are made to each guest's taste.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes. Let us know about dietary needs and allergies when you plan the menu, and the kitchen will build around them. It's a shared kitchen, so flag serious allergies early.
Do you host holiday parties?
Yes. Company and team holiday parties are welcome in Needle & Thread or as a full buyout. For December, send a few preferred dates as early as you can.
Where are you, and is there parking?
1406 12th Ave on Capitol Hill, in the 1919 Trace Lofts building. Street parking on 12th Ave, a garage next door, and rideshare drop-off at the front door.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes. Both rooms are 21 and over, including for private events.
